Solar Fan Shipping from China: Carton Volume, Weight & Landed Cost

Updated: 2026-10-14

Before asking for freight on a solar fan order, collect the exact carton measurements, units per carton and gross weight. This guide shows how to turn those figures into a shipment estimate and compare a freight quotation with the cost of selling the fans locally.

Quick buying answer

For the listed D318A packing of one set per 49 × 15 × 52 cm carton, one carton is 0.03822 CBM and 6.6 kg gross. Ten units are 0.3822 CBM and 66 kg gross; 100 units are 3.822 CBM and 660 kg gross. These totals exclude pallets and additional outer packing. Landed unit cost is the complete shipment cost divided by the saleable units received.

Solar fan carton volume and shipment weight

Calculated from the packing specifications on the linked product pages. These are planning estimates; confirm final export cartons and included accessories before booking freight. Gross weight includes the listed carton packaging.

Carton measurements, cubic metres (CBM) and gross kilograms; no pallets included.

Formula: carton length (cm) × width (cm) × height (cm) ÷ 1,000,000 = carton CBM. Carton count = order quantity ÷ units per carton, rounded up for a partial carton. Ask the supplier for actual partial-carton packing where applicable.

1. Measure export packing, not the assembled fan

A standing fan's assembled height is not its shipping height. Suppliers normally disassemble parts for packing, so use the export carton dimensions rather than the product's floor-standing dimensions. Confirm whether the panel, battery, stand, adapter and remote are included in the same carton or packed separately.

Gross weight includes the packed goods and packaging. Net weight measures the goods without packaging. Use gross weight for shipment planning and keep the two labels separate in a quotation or packing list.

  • Record length, width and height in the same unit.
  • Confirm units per carton and the number of cartons for each model.
  • Ask for carton photos or a packing list for the final configuration.
  • Add separately packed panels, spare parts, pallets or protective crates to the shipment totals.

2. Calculate cubic metres and total gross weight

When measurements are in centimetres, divide their product by 1,000,000 to get cubic metres. For D318A, 49 × 15 × 52 ÷ 1,000,000 = 0.03822 CBM per carton. Multiply by 500 cartons to get 19.11 CBM; multiply 6.6 kg by 500 to get 3,300 kg gross.

For a mixed order, calculate each model separately and then add the carton volumes and gross weights. Keep the full precision until the final total. A change in carton design can change freight even when the fan diameter stays the same.

  • Total CBM = carton CBM × total cartons.
  • Total gross weight = gross kilograms per carton × total cartons.
  • For multi-unit cartons, divide quantity by the stated carton quantity.
  • Confirm actual packing before rounding a final freight booking.

3. Check how the freight quotation is charged

Ask the forwarder whether the quotation is for the entire shipment, per cubic metre, per kilogram or per container. A total shipment charge must be divided by the ordered units to estimate freight per fan. For example, a hypothetical USD 150 total charge for ten fans is USD 15 per fan; it is not a current shipping offer.

Do not assume that physical weight is always the chargeable weight. Air and express carriers may use volumetric weight, while consolidated sea freight can use weight or volume and minimum charges. Ask the forwarder for the applicable calculation and included services.

  • Specify the China collection point and destination city or port.
  • Confirm whether customs clearance, duties, taxes and local delivery are included individually.
  • Ask about handling, documentation, destination fees and minimum charges.
  • Disclose the lithium battery configuration and request the forwarder's document requirements.

4. Build a landed-cost worksheet in one currency

Start with unit price multiplied by quantity. Add the freight quotation, China handling, insurance if purchased, destination clearance, duties, taxes and local transport where they are not already included. Avoid counting a charge twice when an all-inclusive freight quote already covers it.

Convert each cost using the exchange rate available through your actual payment channel and include its fees. Then divide the complete cost by the saleable units received. A live exchange rate or retail listing is a reference, not a guaranteed settlement rate or selling price.

  • Goods value = agreed unit price × quantity.
  • Landed total = goods + freight + other applicable charges not already included.
  • Landed unit cost = landed total ÷ saleable units received.
  • Retail gross profit per unit = selling price − landed unit cost.
  • Gross margin = gross profit ÷ selling price; advertising, payment fees and warranty costs still reduce net profit.

5. Request a quotation that can be checked

Send the selected model, quantity, destination and required configuration together. Ask SunVora to state product value, carton count, per-carton measurements, gross weight and shipment totals in separate fields. The packing table above links to the product pages so buyers can check the source figures.

Final pricing, production time, battery documents and delivery terms need order-specific confirmation. Small trial orders and bulk orders can use different freight arrangements, so obtain a fresh shipment quotation rather than multiplying an old sample freight charge.

  • Model and exact quantity per model.
  • Panel, battery and accessory configuration.
  • Destination and requested shipping service.
  • Final packing list and whether prices include freight or destination charges.

Frequently asked questions

What is the shipping volume of ten D318A solar fans?

Using the listed one-set carton size of 49 × 15 × 52 cm, ten D318A units require ten cartons and total 0.3822 CBM. Their listed total gross weight is 66 kg. Pallets and additional outer packaging are not included.

Does customs clearance included mean duties and taxes are included?

Do not assume that they are. Ask the forwarder to list clearance service, import duties, taxes and local delivery separately as included or excluded before calculating landed cost.

Can I calculate freight from the fan diameter alone?

No. Use final carton dimensions, units per carton, gross weight, shipping method and destination. Similar-sized fans can have different panel packing and carton volumes.
